Facade cleaning in Utrecht and the region
A facade does not turn green in one season. By the time it is noticeable the growth has usually been there two or three years. We take it off in a way that leaves the masonry intact — low pressure, the right product, and the time to let it work.

€12per m²
Indicative price including VAT for a reachable facade with normal soiling. The price depends on height, substrate and how heavy the growth is.
The north side of a house is almost always the green side: that is where the wall stays damp longest. In Utrecht city centre soot and particulates get added to that, and in newer districts like Leidsche Rijn and Rijnvliet it is mostly algal growth on pale brick and render, where it shows up even more.
We work at low pressure as standard, with a product that kills the algae and moss rather than merely blasting them off. That is the difference between a facade that stays clean for three years and one where the growth is back in eight months. We only use high pressure on concrete and hard engineering brick; on old pointing and soft brick, high pressure does more damage than the growth ever did.
Where it makes sense we recommend an impregnating coat after cleaning. It makes the wall water-repellent, so less moisture soaks into the brick and the algae stay away far longer. It is not compulsory — we will tell you plainly if your facade does not need it.
How it goes
From request to finished work
- 1
Inspection and a test patch
We assess the brick and pointing and clean a small test patch, so you can see what the result will be.
- 2
Covering up
Frames, doors, air bricks, planting and the patio go under sheeting.
- 3
Treat and let it work
The product goes on and gets the time it needs. Rushing this step costs two years of clean facade.
- 4
Rinse down and hand over
Facade rinsed, surroundings cleared, and we walk round it with you before we leave.
Frequently asked questions
Questions about facade cleaning
Will high pressure damage my pointing?
On old pointing and soft brick: yes, which is exactly why we work at low pressure as standard. We only use high pressure on concrete and hard engineering brick. If we are unsure about the substrate we clean a test patch first and you decide afterwards.
How long does the facade stay clean?
Without impregnation, two to four years on average, depending on the aspect: a north wall under trees dirties faster than a south wall in full sun. Impregnation typically adds a couple of years to that.
Will my plants be harmed?
No. Planting along the wall is covered before we start and we rinse the soil around it afterwards. If there is something delicate right against the wall, mention it at the survey and we will work around it.
